Victoria Doramus learned how important it is to help others when she recovered from her drug addiction. She also believes animals need help, so she supports the Best Friends Animal Society. Its goal is to save all of America’s animals from being euthanized in animal shelters. It has partnerships and building community programs throughout America.
The society was established in the 80s when 17 million animals were put down each year. Sick and old animals were the first to be euthanized. Some friends took shelter animals to a safe haven where they received love and care. The animals were either sent to loving homes to be with their new families or kept at the sanctuary. The group grew to become the nonprofit organization Best Friends Animal Society.
Victoria Doramus agrees with the organization’s mission to end the killing in shelters and give every animal love. The group is currently caring for almost 1,600 animals. Animals need love and care to survive just like humans do. The organization, animal shelters, and rescue groups hold adoption events, fundraising drives, and public education campaigns. The combined effort is more effective than they could be on their own. They need more help through donations. These will go to helping thousands of animals through animal rescue programs and at the sanctuary. There are volunteer opportunities and other ways to help the animals in NYC.
Victoria Doramus earned a journalism degree in mass communication at the University of Colorado. In 2012, she attended the Sotheby’s Institute of Art for a semester to learn more about the history of art in the western world. She has worked with Creative Arts Agency, Mindshare, Stila Cosmetics, Trendera, and as Peter Berg’s personal assistant. She also supports the Amy Winehouse Foundation, Room to Read, and the Women’s Prison Association.
