Cancer Treatment Centers of America joins hands with the NFL Alumni Association and LabCorp to provide Prostate cancer screening services

Prostate cancer is arguably one of the most common types of cancer among men. Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in partnership with the National Football League Alumni Association (NFLA) and LabCorp have launched a bid to create massive awareness of Prostate cancer and the reason for early screening. From September 1st to 15th October, some 2000 men who are 40 years old and above will receive free Prostate cancer screening at any of Labcorp’s 1,750 outlets countrywide.

One in seven American men is likely to be diagnosed prostate cancer. The American Cancer Society predicts over 161,000 new prostate cancer diagnoses next year. Men who are past age 40 are at a higher risk. The same applies to African-American men.

The Prostate Pep Talk campaign has seen decorated former NFL head coaches Herm Edwards, and Bill Cowher participate in public service announcements. The announcements, which will air countrywide throughout September, will create awareness of risk prostate cancer poses and benefits of early screening. A press conference which will feature former defensive back Beasley Reece who is a five-time Emmy award winner.

Other former NFL players including Mike Quick and Jon Runyan. Some of the players and coaches have seen family members or friends battle with prostate cancer. Sean Cavanaugh who is head of Radiation Oncology at CTCA Southeastern branch, Gary Huff who is CEO LabCorp and Carl Baylor who is a stage IV prostate cancer survivor all will be in attendance.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America is a company with its headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida. It comprises of five hospitals that specialize in cancer treatment. The five hospitals, in Atlanta, Chicago, Tulsa, Phoenix, and Philadelphia serve all US citizens.
