In recent times, OSI Industries has been focusing on domestic and foreign expansion. In fact, in the first five years, the company has expanded significantly in the United States and Europe.
One of the factors that have contributed to the growth of this business is the leadership offered by CEO and Chairman Sheldon Lavin. Since he joined the company in the 1970s, he has directed the expansion of the company into the global arena. To boost the company’s control in other regions, the CEO has purchased and acquired a number of businesses both locally and internationally.
In the United States, they have acquired a food plant that was formerly owned by Tyson Foods. This acquisition took place in 2017 and saw OSI acquire the 200,000 square feet of space. The plant will provide more room for OSI to improve food production capacity for their customers in North America. According to an executive of the company, this new facility will help them in growing faster by meeting the demands of the consumers in the region. The plant was initially designed to support the production of chicken products, but OSI will use it for the production of different types of foods.
Flagship Europe acquisition
In December 2016, OSI Industries acquired Flagship Europe, a UK based food business. The meaning of this acquisition was to take control of food production activities in the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe. This plant was mainly used for the production of frozen poultry, distributes pies, and sauces for food services. After the acquisition, Flagship Europe was renamed to creative foods. According to a spokesman of the Creative Foods, the new partnership with OSI Industries will help them improve its position in the food market in the region. Another benefit will be that it will manage to serve its customers with better products and a larger portfolio of products.
While acquiring Flagship Europe, OSI Industries also acquired another Dutch food company known as Baho Food. The acquisition will help the company and dominate the food production business in major parts of Europe. The partnership between OSI Industries and Baho is aimed at strengthening the ability of both companies to meet the evolving needs of their customers.
